A Note to Each of You From Melissa
Hello everyone!
It's late... another busy day fulfilled by the amazing gift of this job I have been given to do. I was just sitting on the couch, surveying my day and thinking about tomorrow and I began to think of you--each of you: old familiar faces and new, our conversations, your smiles and hugs. What amazing pride I feel in the accomplishments of past students and the hopes and expectations I have for you new ones. I am so blessed to have you in my life. To have the precious privilege of passing through your lives and planting seeds that will one day bring a harvest. What a gift I have been given to watch you grow into the destiny God has for you and to marvel in the fact that I got to be a part of it.
Please remember that knowledge is power but only if you apply it. It takes more than hearing information and writing it down to activate its power in your life. It takes reviewing it, meditating on it and purposefully using it in your life. Whether it's acting skills that will take you from a surface, text actor to a complex, interesting actor with real depth and ability to a model who goes from awkward, insecure steps to poetry in motion on the runway. I dream of seeing those whose career path was made more certain by the lessons we taught you at EXCEL. But more than even that, I pray those personal lessons taught would leave you forever changed because you realized that what was taught in the classroom about honor, integrity, and respect for God were keys of wisdom that have eternal value.
Review the lessons we taught, reread your notes, speak out loud the things you learned, meditate the principals and skills and use them. If you do, then your investment in EXCEL was truly an awesome investment in yourself and your future that will far exceed the expectations you had when you walked in for camp or your weekly class session. You will be changed and you will influence others toward that same excellence.
I love each of you and I am praying for you daily. Thank you for sharing your life and your gifts with us. It is an awesome privilege and responsibility that we do not take lightly.
Have a wonderful week and pray for me as I travel to LA to attend the National Media Prayer Breakfast to pray alongside major media powerhouse execs for other influential people in this business.
I ask for you to pray for actress Angelina Jolee, singer Lindsey Lohan, and Director Ron Howard this week. Pray for their walk with God, for laborers to be sent into thier lives to minister truth and life to them, and for their influence in the industry to be a good one. If you do this then you will be playing a part in the world that has eternal value!! Love, Melissa

It seems like everything you say is poetry. Thank you for your prayers, and know we'll be praying for you and this industry. I see you as such an inspiration. I'm certain you leave God's light in everyone you meet. While I used to aspire to be a professional model, now I pray to be a successful disciple. God through you has taught me so much and I'm thankful to Him for that. Thank you for letting Him lead you.
Ms. Melissa, it's great that you have so much passion to go forward with your vision. I really enjoy hearing your "sermons" in class, because they really are inspirational. thank you for sharing your wisdom!

Thank you so much for everything you and the staff have done. I loved modeling image one. I'm so sad that's it's over but i can't wait to take modeling image two! I've made so many new friends sence the class started. I'm praying for all of you. Good luck in everything you do.

Hi Mrs. Melissa, i am so glade that you succed in everything that you do because if you didnt then who would i look up to? ha ha, you are an inspiration to many and what a full scheduel you always have. But you still seek time to write all of us, when you were young and commited yourself to setting up excel, you really put your mind to it didnt you? and i just want to thank you for all that you do, i am very excited to know that i will be going with you and many other boys and girls to IMTA this summer in july, this is going to be an amazing experience for me and i have never been so excited, see you around! and i hope you had a wonderful amazing trip!
